Yearbook
The Congress Elementary School Yearbook is created using a web-based program offered through Lifetouch Inc. Interested 6th - 8th grade students work on the yearbook throughout the 1st and 2nd trimester. The students are exposed to digital photography, page design and are responsible for producing assigned pages within a given time frame. Some of the students take on extra responsibility as either Editor or Treasurer.
Athletics
Congress Elementary School sponsors several athletic teams depending upon the interest of the students and the availability of volunteer coaches. During different years the following sports have been offered: Volleyball and Basketball. Games are scheduled with other small rural schools. Good sportsmanship and participation for all is the focus.
Student Council, Health Council, and Anti-Bully Committee
A student council is organized each year with elections held for the office of President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. Each grade level, 6th through 8th, choose a student council representative. The council does various fund raisers, service projects, and sponsors student dances/movie nights. Health Council also organizes every year and collaborates with the local Congress Health Council. They support and organize various activities, host fundraisers, and also support health instruction at the school. The Anti-Bully Committee is made of one student from each classroom. Anti-Bully Representatives act to assist students, provide feedback and ideas on anti-bully efforts, and educate others on anti-bullying.
