Congress Elementary School/District continues to be recognized as an "A" School/District for the 2017-2018 school year. English Language Arts (ELA)
and Math Scores for the AzMERIT (State Assessment for 3rd through 8th Grade Students) are well above the State Average.

SPECIAL PROGRAMS
 
The Brummitt-Taylor Music Listening Program
The Brummitt-Taylor Music Listening Program is a non-directed listening program played daily at the school during morning announcements.  The program focuses on classical music.  The students are taught about the composer and the composition in a short reading, which is followed by listening to an excerpt from the composition.
 
Technology 3D Programming class and Legos Robotics:
Students are given the opportunity to develop 3D graphics and basic programming skills for video game development. Students must have sufficient math and reading skills to participate in the class. In a separate class, students are also introduced and trained in the area of Legos Robotics. This class includes intensive coding training.

Student Council:
Student elections are held in August of every year and a new student council is formed. Leadership is an essential component of the Student Council. Spirit Days and other school activities are planned by the Student Council.

Congress Healthy Kids Program: Student Health Council:
The Congress Healthy Kids program was piloted in the Congress Elementary School. From this program, the Congress Student Health Council was created. Students meet and plan activities that promote healthy living and help educate others.

Fitness Focus:
Congress Elementary School has a walking track which is 1/4 mile in length. Students are expected to walk the track daily. Students also use a climbing/rock wall in the gym. This rock wall is used not only for physical fitness activities but also for learning activities which allows teachers to integrate learning with fitness. In addition, teachers daily integrate Brain Gym and Pangrazi activities into their instructional day.

Oleweus Program Bullying Prevention Program:
The Olweus [pronounced Ol-VEY-us] Bullying Prevention Program is a comprehensive, school-wide program designed for use in elementary, middle, or junior high schools. Its goals are to reduce and prevent bullying problems among school children and to improve peer relations at school. The program has been found to reduce bullying among children, improve the social climate of classrooms, and reduce related antisocial behaviors, such as vandalism and truancy. The Olweus Program has been implemented in more than one dozen countries around the world.

Anti-Bully Representatives and Anti-Bully Committee:
Anti-Bully Representatives (ABRs) are an identified student in each classroom (K-8). They are a resource for other students in varying areas to help reduce and prevent bullying from happening. ABRs attend regular meetings, are given training, and also provide training to the entire school on bullying prevention and awareness.
