March 2025
Dear Parents,
February was a sensational month at Congress Elementary School with a multitude of learning and growth. We reached our 100th day of school on February 10; had another wonderful STEAM family outreach event; hosted the Second Trimester Honors Assemblies; and enjoyed Student Council and Health Council events.
March promises to be another outstanding month. The efforts of the Yearbook Club are going to be visible soon. Order forms for Yearbooks have gone home and the cost is $12 due by Thursday, March 6th. English Language Arts (ELA) Curriculum Committee has met and have recommend Amplify (Amplify.com has additional information) as the new curriculum to be possibly adopted for use at the school. The ELA curriculum materials are available for viewing in the front office. Adoption of the Amplify ELA curriculum will be considered on Wednesday, May 14, by the School Board for possible use by students in the 2025-2026 school year. Please call the school to schedule time if you would like to see the proposed curriculum. The Math Curriculum Committee will be meeting in March.
Spring Break is just around the corner; mark your calendars for March 10th-13th. The school office will be closed over the break. State testing this year (Grades 3-8) will continue to be administered by computer (versus paper based) tests. Testing will take place in a two-week period (except for the science testing for grades 5 and 8). The testing schedule will begin at the end of March (for science) and then in April for Math and English Language Arts. A good night’s sleep and breakfast are always important, they are even more important during testing times to help with energy and focus. Please help your child(ren) achieve their maximum potential by eating, sleeping and getting to school on time. We appreciate all the support and see students make their best effort daily.
