May 2022

Dear Parents:

The last month of this school year has arrived and we have a schedule packed with fun. Nonetheless, April was a wonderful month of growth for our students as they completed the Arizona State Testing. Afterschool programs started back in March and will continue through May. Students are enjoying Astronomy, Sign Language, Foreign Language, and Scrapbooking Club
Thanks to Eddy Vazquez our 2021-2022 school theme has been “Hard-Work Requires Time and Patience”. Another special thank you to our volunteers for their time to help support the educational efforts of the school. This includes our outstanding School Board and staff who continually support students through whole child instruction.

Student Councils have been busy this year. Our Anti-Bully Council has been working hard to bring awareness about the effects of bullying and how to stop it and what is takes to be an upstander. An upstander is someone who “…embraces the challenge to speak out, do the right thing, and make decisions that help create positive change in our world.” - from Facing History and Ourselves.  In May, Student Council will be hosting Spirit Days and the Cougar Buck Store.

Midterm Progress Reports were mailed home in April and report cards will go home by the first week in June. Preschool (PK4) Promotion will take place Wednesday May 18th, 2022, at 10:00am. We will be hosting an Honors Assembly this year. K-4th grades at 10:30-11:45am on Tuesday, May 24, and 5th-8th grades will take place on Tuesday, May 24, at 2:00-3:15 pm. The school will be hosting the 8th Grade Promotion this year on Wednesday, May 25 at 3:00 pm.

AimsWeb Benchmarking and the Spring Map testing will be taking place 5/10-5/12 please help your child by making sure they get a good breakfast and a good night’s sleep. These tests are equally important to track educational growth of your student and target identified needs for future instruction.

Speaking of next school year 😊: Please continue to monitor the ClassDojo/school website ( messages/mail. Currently, school will start Monday, July 18, 2022, for Congress Elementary students with routine bus services provided. The school calendar will be included as a flyer with this letter.
