April 2021

Dear Parents:

We love having all students back at school and busing services active. Hooray for change that further supports learning and growth! March held Spring Break and so activities during March were somewhat limited; however, students have continued to increase in social emotional learning and academic learning.

After School Programs started in March. We have three current ones, approved through the School Board. Garden Club, Scrapbooking Club, and Guitar Club will be ongoing into the Month of May.

Our three councils have been very busy during March and into April. Student Council has hosted and will be hosting some fun events. A sudden “Wacky Wednesday” was declared for all students to celebrate on Wednesday, March 31st. Track-A-Lap is an ongoing in-school event hosted by the Health Council and our Anti-Bully Council is creating posters for display through the school on how to fight bullying/not be bullied.

April includes many different events. Monday, April 5th, there is a Spring Holiday/No School for students. State Testing will take place during the entire month and on Monday, April 12th, is the Third Mid Trimester. Mailing home of Mid Trimester Reports will happen on the following Thursday, April 22nd. Please always feel free to contact a teacher to share or gain information. Constant communication between home and school helps us meet the needs of students in the best way possible.

For State testing, please make sure your child has adequate rest and is prepared for school as usual. Nutrition is important as well for testing. A healthy breakfast and lots of water is recommended. We are noticing students without water bottles. Please check with your child to see if they have a water bottle or might need a new one. All water bottles should be clear.

State testing this year (Grades 3-8) will continue to be administered by computer (versus a paper based) test. The testing schedule included Science testing for 5th and 8th grade only in March and is extended over the month of April for all 3rd through 8th grade students. The schedule will be as follows:

AzM2 Writing: Wednesday, April 7th and Thursday, April 8th (Make-up testing)

AzM2 English Language Arts (ELA): Tuesday, April 13th and Thursday, April 15th
